Well, it's fairly simple: We ate gimbaps in South Korea, and saw the holy light. After eating gimbaps every day for the rest of the trip, we realized we couldn't live without them.
But right now, you can't buy them anywhere and nobody seems to know about them. So here we are, about to change all that.
Gimbap is a Korean dish made of seasoned rice, fresh vegetables, and savory fillings, all wrapped in a sheet of seaweed. Gimbap is a versatile, portable meal that’s enjoyed for lunch, snacks, or even breakfast. With its balanced combination of flavors and textures, it's a delicious and healthy option for any time of day.
While gimbaps and sushi may look similar, they are not the same. Gimbap is a Korean dish made with seasoned rice, vegetables, and various fillings wrapped in seaweed, without raw fish. Sushi, on the other hand, is a Japanese dish that often includes raw fish and vinegared rice.
How many gimbaps you'll eat depends on your appetite! Typically, one or two rolls ( 9 pieces per roll) make for a satisfying meal. If you're really hungry you might eat more. The pieces are typically bigger than a sushi roll.
Yes, we offer a vegan gimbap option. The kimchi gimbap features freshly produced gut-loving kimchi and savory vegetables.
Our adventure starts on the 6th of April but hopefully doesn't end there. Subscribe to the newsletter to be the first to hear about the next option to order your gimbaps.
Jeju is a beautiful Korean island, where we ate many gimbaps and enjoyed the island life. JEJU Deli is a place to devour Korean food – from gimbaps and fresh kimchi to hopefully more to come.
